Our Brand Ambassador Lara Gut has exchanged her skis to make her debut on the big screen. In “Tutti Giù” she is portraying Chiara, a young professional athlete, who struggles under the pressure of expectations. She has to prove herself under the burden of responsibility – to her coaches, sponsors, journalists and fans. A situation Lara is quite familiar with, showing parallels to her real life as professional skier.
The synopsis reads: Tutti Giù” is about three young people who are “different”, special, but who share a common need to measure up to an “adult” world. One is a professional athlete. One thinks of sport as a lifestyle. And one gets into sport almost by chance. One, surrounded by the crowd, seeks the inner strength to carve out moments of profound intimacy with self and nature. One feels at home on the street, seeking a family in chaos. And one finds peace in emptiness.
The shooting locations included Lugano, Sestriere – Souze D’oulx and St. Moritz and took place between October 2011 and January 2012. KJUS is proud to be a partner, equipping all four main characters and the film crew with the new KJUS Spirit and Ski Collection. The film will premiere at selected film festivals later this year. Expect it to come to a cinema near you at the end of summer.
We met Lara and talked to her about her acting debut:
How did you come to this film project? What was your motivation?
Niccolò, the director approached me because he wanted to do a film portraying the life of three young characters and one of them should be a talented athlete. So I told him my story and stories of many of my colleagues. Two years later he returned and asked me to play one of the main characters. I liked being a part of this project because I wanted to show the audience a different side of a professional athlete’s life. One they have never seen before!
Do you have acting experience or was this all new for you?
I had no idea what I was in for! ;-)
So how did you prepare yourself?
I had superb coaching (thank you Lena), which helped me a lot. And the other actors have studied drama. So I just jumped in! :-)
Your role in the movie is part of Lara and part fiction. How have you approached this role?
I was not looking for similarities with Chiara because I already knew how it feels to be in the public eye and how to deal with bad reputation. I’ve rather been working on the differences between the two of us.
What was the biggest challenge on the set?
To be patient. And to shoot a scene, wait… and shoot it all over again.
